HEIDI, a beautiful 14 year old gal, is such a sweetheart and gentle old soul. She may seem a bit set in her ways, but she is so full of love and loyalty, it makes up for any stubbornness she might have now and then, lol.
She is crate trained for sleeping at night and is so great to travel with. She would welcome a camping trip anytime! She is happy to be around her people, sitting by their feet or watching them from across the room.
She loves to help out in the kitchen, but no extra treats for her, as she is on a diet and exercise routine to help get her back in shape. Heidi is currently 20 pounds and could stand to lose 3 – 4 more pounds. Her foster paw-rents have done so well with her, helping her lose a few pounds already. She eats chicken breast, veggies and rice and has some supplements added in. She will need a family to keep up with her routine to help her get back to her best self.
Heidi grew up as an only dog, but has met other small dogs and does well. She likes to meet slowly and when she is ready. She was curious of the cat at the vet clinic, so we feel she would be ok with a cat in the home.
Her ideal home would be one with retirees or those who work from home. If you have children, it would be best if they were older children who knew to let her have her space and who do not try to pick her up as she is fearful of being picked up and will nip and try to get away.
Due to limited resources, only applications that match Heidi’s requirements will be contacted for a potential adoption trial.
We only adopt to families in NS, NB, PEI & NL. Matches are not based on proximity to the dog, but on the best fit for the dog. We do assist as much as possible with travel for the right applicant within these provinces.
If you already have an application on file and think Heidi may be a perfect fit for your family, you can send us a FB message or an email at firstname.lastname@example.org, and ask to be considered for her, instead of submitting another application.
Applications close on Sunday, Sept 18th at 12 noon.
Due to Heidi’s age, she has no set adoption fee, rather, we ask for a donation to the rescue. We accept e-transfer, cheque or cash.
Heidi is located within the Halifax Regional Municipality.
