Kuechly (pronounced Keek-ly) is a handsome, lovable 8 year old, 20lb, black and tan male. Since coming into our care over the Christmas holidays, he has been neutered and had a dental cleaning, and he is now looking forward to meeting his new fur-ever family. Over the past 2 months, we have learned so much about this sweet older fellow…
* He has lots of LOVES: loves to play, loves to go for walks, loves to snuggle, loves to give kisses, and loves to get belly rubs.
* He knows basic commands.
* He walks beautifully on a leash.
* His favourite place to sleep is under the covers with his foster paw-rents.
* He is great with his foster family’s senior cat. He tries to play with it, but when corrected, he respects its space.
* He will bark when new people come into the house and he is nervous with new people petting him. It takes him a bit to warm up to new people, but once he feels safe with them, he is fine.
* He has met some young children but is nervous with quick movements. As a result he would prefer if any children in the home are older and dog-savvy.
* He has met some other dogs, including puppies. He is timid & nervous around high energy dogs. He would prefer to be around other dogs who are mature and have calm energy.
* He prefers not to be alone for long, otherwise he will whine and bark. As he loves to be by his human’s side, he will be a great companion for someone who is home most of the time or not gone for more than a few hours at a time.
* He is a typical dachshund and can be quite vocal when he hears a noise he’s unfamiliar with.
REQUIREMENTS:
✅ 8+ children who are dog-savvy
✅ Good with cats
✅ Good with other calm dogs
⚠️ Can be left alone for a few hours at most
⛔️ Due to barking, not suitable for an apartment

* Due to limited resources, only applications that fit Kuechly’s requirements will be contacted for a potential adoption trial.
* We only adopt to NS, NB, PEI & NL. Matches are not based on proximity to the dog, but on the best fit for the dog.
* Applications close on Sun, March 5th at 12 noon.
* Adoption fee is $350 payable by e-transfer or cash.
* Kuechly is located in Nova Scotia.
