Atlantic Canadian Dachshund Rescue ("ACDR," "we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it, in keeping with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Information We Collect

We collect personal information only when you choose to share it with us, including when you: submit an adoption, foster, or volunteer application; email us about surrendering your dachshund; contact us through our website or by email; or make a donation. Depending on the form, this may include your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, household details, references, and information about your pets. We collect only what we need to serve the dogs in our care and to respond to you.

Why We Collect It

We use your information to review adoption and surrender requests, to match dogs with suitable homes, to contact your references and veterinarian where applicable, to respond to your inquiries, to process donations and issue tax receipts, and to coordinate fostering and volunteering. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

How It's Stored & Protected

Your information is stored securely and accessed only by the ACDR volunteers who need it to do their roles. We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law.

Donations

Online donations are processed by our third-party platform, Zeffy, which handles your payment information under its own privacy practices. ACDR does not store your full payment details.

Our adoption, foster, and volunteer applications are provided by Jotform, a third-party form service, and are displayed on our website inside a Jotform frame. The information you enter is delivered to ACDR and is handled under Jotform's own privacy practices as well as this policy. Jotform is based in the United States, and information you submit through these forms or through our donation platform may be stored or processed on servers outside Canada, where it may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.

Email & CASL

If you opt in to receive news or updates from us, we will only email you with your consent, and every email will include a clear way to unsubscribe, in keeping with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

Cookies & Analytics

Our website does not use advertising cookies or tracking that identifies you personally. If we introduce privacy-friendly analytics in the future, we will update this policy.

Our Upcoming Events page includes an embedded event calendar hosted by Google Calendar. Viewing that page connects your browser to Google to display the calendar, which may set its own cookies under Google's privacy policy. No other page on this site connects to Google.

Our adoption, foster, and volunteer application forms are hosted by Jotform and load only when you choose to show one: the "Show the Application" button on our Adoption Application page, or the Foster and Volunteer buttons on our How to Help page. Showing a form connects your browser to Jotform, which may set its own cookies to run the form and protect it from spam, under Jotform's privacy policy. If you don't show a form, no connection to Jotform is made.

Access, Correction & Deletion
